The new Laboratory for Surgical Modeling, Simulation and Robotics will open today at the University of Manitoba.
The new state-of-the-art, $220,000 laboratory was created to meet the increasing need to integrate technology into clinical practice and education, with a mission to create and promote a safer medical experience.
The lab includes rapid-prototyped models for education and dissection, haptic models (computer-generated sense of touch), mixed reality surgical simulation and other technologies.
The lab is located in the Thorlakson Building at the Health Sciences Centre at 820 Sherbrook Street.
