A south Winnipeg Safeway store will be the second location in the province to have a Liquor Mart Express kiosk.

Grocery shoppers will be able to purchase alcoholic beverages at the store, located at 2155 Pembina Highway, as part of changes to Manitoba’s Liquor Control Act announced last spring.

“The innovative, new Express stores will allow the public to shop for groceries and alcohol in one location, while ensuring these products continue to be sold in a socially responsible manner,” said Jim Rondeau, minister responsible for the Liquor Control Act.

The 755-square-foot kiosk will be operated and staffed by MLCC employees, and offer about 400 of the top selling products consisting of popular wine, spirits and beer. Construction of the store will begin shortly, with a planned opening of mid to late summer.

The first express liquor kiosk opened at the James Richardson International Airport last November.
