The Manitoba Lotteries MS Walk this past Sunday brought out nearly 2,000 Manitobans, who laced up to trek through a new route this year.
Winnipeg Walkers raised $265,000 — putting a hefty dent in the MS Society’s 2012 fundraising goal of $400,000 for the event. However, organizers say while the walk was a success, it’s only 66% of the goal. Donations can still made to count towards the walk up until May 18. Last year, the fundraiser brought in more than $455,000 from 2,000 Winnipeggers.
People can participate in any of the upcoming rural Manitoba Lotteries MS Walks taking place across the province on May 27 in Steinbach, Lac du Bonnet, Portage la Prairie, Morden, Flin Flon, Thompson, The Pas, and Clear Lake. New this year is the MS Community Yard Sale, which will be held on Saturday, May 12 at the MS Society’s office at 1465 Buffalo Place. All proceeds from the sale will be directed to the MS Walk fundraising goal. Anyone wanting to sign up for a table to sell their wares can call (204) 988-0919.
