A seven-month long investigation by Manitoba RCMP has resulted in over 100 charges being laid and 23 arrests.

Project Demerit focused on street level drug trafficking in Portage la Prairie. Police seized numerous drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy with an estimated street value of more than $20,000.

Seven search warrants were executed resulting in the seizure of contraband cigarettes, firearms, prohibited weapons and a variety of street drugs.

RCMP have charged 30 people allegedly involved — mostly all from the Portage area. Warrants remain outstanding for Nicholas Andrew McCrae, 25, of Greenbank, Ontario, and James Roderick Lathlin, 28, of Winnipeg.
