Dragon boats were lowered by a crane into the Red River Wednesday in advance of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Dragon Boat Festival next month.
The boats, from Great White North in Etobicoke, Ontario, have never before been used in Manitoba. The boats will allow rowers to practice leading up to the festival on June 23, hosted by the Winnipeg Rowing Club.
Besides the boats, drums and decorative dragon heads were also placed in the water.
