Dreary Weather No Match for Saturday’s MD Walk

May 25, 2012 6:48 AM | News

Despite the chance of rain on Saturday, more than 300 people will take part in the Winnipeg Safeway Walk for Muscular Dystrophy.

Beginning at Kildonan Park, walkers will hit the pavement at 9 a.m. to the sound of a fire engine horn. The walk will help raise funds and awareness for local families dealing with neuromuscular disorders.

Moksha Yoga will be on hand to limber up the participants before their trek through the park, live entertainment will motivate the walkers, and Canada Safeway will help them refuel with delicious snacks and drinks.

Today at noon until Saturday at 4 p.m., Winnipeg firefighters will be outside local Safeway stores collecting funds for their annual “Fill the Boot” drive. Proceeds will be donated to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
