A public art initiative that pairs professional artists with community groups in Winnipeg will be explored during an upcoming film at Cinematheque.
The 22-minute documentary, “engaging WITH ART,” looks at the Winnipeg Art Council’s WITH ART program. The film will ultimately serve as an educational tool, locally and nationally, to highlight the significance of socially-engaged art and to disseminate information about the City’s success with this program to a wider audience.
“WITH ART is extremely rewarding as the artwork lives on in the community long after the project is finished,” said Tricia Wasney, manager of public art at the Winnipeg Arts Council. “Not just the participants but the entire city benefits from the lasting impact of creative expression of social issues and Winnipeg realities.”
Admission is free and the film will screen Monday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m.
