The 5 Alarm Firefighters Cook Off will be joining forces with another grilling party at Red River Exhibition Park this summer.
The second annual cook off finals will be held Sunday, August 19 as part of the Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival.
“We’re looking forward to once again partnering with the Manitoba firefighting community and are excited to share their enthusiasm for cooking with the rest of Winnipeg,” said Dawne Smithson, vice-president COO of the HSC Foundation. “The Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival seemed like a natural fit for us this year and we’re excited to be able to showcase our firefighters and their culinary talents. Our family-friendly event will add a new level of excitement to the Sunday festivities which will be capped off with the crowning of the 2012 5 Alarm Firefighters Cook Off Champion.”
Firefighters across Manitoba will be challenged to come up with their best recipe to impress the voting public. The winner takes home a $1,000 prize and earns bragging rights. The top five firefighters as selected by online voting July 9 to August 8 will appear to present their dishes to a panel of celebrity judges.
Firefighters can submit their favourite recipes online until July 3.
