The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will make its way through the streets of Winnipeg today.
Police will be running from the Scotiabank Stage at The Forks, west on Broadway to the Legislative Building, north to the Bay, and east on Portage to Main Street, where Special Olympics athletes and coaches will join the run. The run will continue through St. Boniface and returns to the Scotiabank Stage.
The Torch Run is the movement’s largest fundraiser and public awareness campaign, and raised more then $42 million for Special Olympics programs globally in 2011.
The run begins at 5:30 p.m. and traffic along the course may be affected.
All funds raised will go to Special Olympics Manitoba.
