Auditions for CBC’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ in the City June 4

Warm up your vocal cords, there’s a singing audition coming to town.

The CBC television show “Over the Rainbow” will in Winnipeg on Monday, June 4 to hold auditions, seeking to cast for the role of Dorothy. The live competition series will see the winning actor star in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of “The Wizard of Oz,” opening at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto this December.

Ten finalists will be introduced in September to compete Sunday nights on CBC, singing a mixture of Broadway and pop songs each week.

Auditions will be held at the Fairmont Winnipeg beginning at 9 a.m. Participants are asked to prepare “Over the Rainbow” and another song of their choice.

For those unable to attend the live auditions can submit their performance online until June 6 at cbc.ca/overtherainbow with the Ticket to Oz contest, offering one person a place in the top 100.
