Hundreds lined up Monday for a shot at playing the role of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of “The Wizard of Oz.”

Auditions took place at the Fairmont Winnipeg as part of the CBC television show “Over the Rainbow.”

Ten finalists will be introduced in September to compete Sunday nights on CBC, singing a mixture of Broadway and pop songs each week. But before that can happen, the top 100 competitors from across the country will battle it out in Toronto on June 21.

The best Dorothys in the city were Savannah Boyko, Colleen Furlan, Julie Lumsden, Jana Morrison, Shayna Pavlicelli, Tiera Watts, and Chelsea Woodard from Weyburn, SK.

Auditions will be held next in Montreal, Halifax and Toronto.
