Soldiers to March Through the Streets of Brandon

June 8, 2012 8:38 AM | News

A Freedom of the City of Brandon parade and ceremony will be carried out Saturday in front of Brandon City Hall.

The Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (2PPCLI) from CFB Shilo will conduct the ceremony. Two hundred soldiers of the 2PPCLI will march from the Armoury on 11th Street along Victoria Avenue to 9th Street, and stop in front of City Hall for the formal ceremony that has roots in medieval Europe.

The event will begin at 9:20 a.m.

The soldiers will then join the Travellers’ Day parade and march to the Keystone Centre grounds — the site of the Manitoba Summer Fair.
