This year’s Red River Ex is June 15-24 (HANDOUT)
The smell of mini donuts and other delectable midway treats will be permeating the air at Red River Exhibition Park beginning today.
The 2012 Red River Ex will swing open its gates at noon to kick off 10 days of rides, concerts and other family-friendly entertainment.
Big draws this year include Canadian singers Tom Cochrane and Carly Rae Jepsen (ever heard of that song Call Me Maybe?), who will perform on the main stage June 18 and June 23, respectively. Following Jepsen’s matinee performance, Dragonette will take the stage.

The Sheepdogs are just one of many acts performing at this year’s Ex. The band will play Tuesday, June 19 at 8 p.m. (HANDOUT)
Each day will pack something different to see and comes included with general gate admission. Discounted gate tickets are $5 before 5 p.m. today and Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22. General admission is $8 in advance (Sobeys, Mac’s) or $12 on-site. Children under six are free.
