The NHL released its 2012-13 regular season schedule Thursday, putting the Winnipeg Jets at home to face the Carolina Hurricanes on October 13 at 2 p.m.
It will be the first game of the regular season for the hockey club before hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on October 16 at MTS Centre. It will also be the first time the Jets have played the Hawks at home, where hometown captain Jonathan Toews will play in front of a familiar crowd.
The Jets hit the road for their first series of away games on October 19 vs. Washington and October 20 vs. Philadelphia.
The club will also play its popular New Year’s Eve game on December 31 vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning with a special start time of 4 p.m.
Winnipeg’s longest homestand is five games beginning on January 11, when the Jets host the Stanley Cup finalist New Jersey Devils, and concluding on January 19 against the Ottawa Senators.
