Three military service members from Winnipeg will be bestowed with honours today in Ottawa.

Governor General David Johnston will hand out Military Valour Decorations and Meritorious Service Decorations (Military Division) — 43 in total — to members of the Canadian and allied forces at Rideau Hall.

Brigadier-General Craig Randall King, Chief Warrant Officer Kirk Newhook, and Sergeant Gordon Percy Cullen will be the local recipients of the decoration and medals, respectively.

Five Medals of Military Valour will be given to members of the Canadian Forces who have displayed gallantry and devotion to duty in combat, as well as two Meritorious Service Crosses (Military Division) and 36 Meritorious Service Medals (Military Division) to individuals whose specific achievements have brought honour to the Canadian Forces and to Canada.
