Canadian pop star-turned-international hit maker Carly Rae Jepsen belted out her famous tunes Saturday at the Red River Ex.

The 26-year-old “Call Me Maybe” singer delivered that hit, plus several others for the thousands who packed the park. There was such a demand for Jepsen, that just getting into the park was an issue. Traffic was backed up on Portage Avenue for several kilometres hours prior to the afternoon concert.

Asked after her show whether she wakes up in the morning and thinks, ‘Wow! Why me?’ because of her rapid success, Jepsen said, “Yes, it all seems surreal right now but not just the morning, it continues all day and into the evening.”

Jepsen told ChrisD.ca she feels blessed for her success and appreciates how a precious few get to live the dream and be successful at what they love doing.

Jepsen shares a Winnipeg connection, as her grandparents, aunt and uncle live in the city.
