
Assiniboine Park during Canada Day (CHRISD.CA FILE)
With Canada Day falling on a Sunday this year, businesses and government offices will observe Monday, July 2 as the federally-regulated holiday.
Here’s a list of what’s open and closed in Winnipeg for your convenience:
Shopping centres (Canada Day)
St. Vital — 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Polo Park — 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Kildonan Place — 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Grant Park — 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Portage Place — 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
*All malls are closed Monday, July 2.
Liquor Marts
All Manitoba Liquor Marts will be open regular hours on Canada Day, Sunday July 1, with the exception of the following stores which will be closed: Roblin, Carman, Steinbach and Churchill. On Monday, July 2, all Manitoba Liquor Marts will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of the cityplace and Steinbach locations.
Civic offices
Closed on Monday, July 2.
Garbage/recycling
No recycling or garbage collection on Monday. Collection will resume on Tuesday, July 3 — Day 2 on the five-day cycle.
Winnipeg Transit
On Sunday, July 1, Winnipeg Transit will operate on its normal Sunday schedule.
There will be a free Canada Day shuttle linking downtown, The Forks and Osborne Village. The shuttle will operate from 12 p.m. to midnight. The 11 Portage Extra Service operates between The Forks and Assiniboine Park from noon to 11 p.m. Regular transit fares apply.
Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, July 2.
Libraries
All city libraries losed on Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2. Regular hours of operation for Winnipeg Public Libraries resume on Tuesday, July 3.
Leisure Centres
Closed on Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2 except the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre and St. James Civic Centre which will be open on Monday, July 2.
Swimming Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor and outdoor swimming pools will be closed on Sunday, July 1. Weather permitting, a handful of wading pools and spray pads will be open on Sunday.
Animal Services Agency
Closed on Sunday, July 1 and open on Monday, July 2 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from dawn to dusk over the holiday weekend including Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2.
Golf Courses
All City of Winnipeg golf courses will be open over the holiday weekend including Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2.
