Two University of Winnipeg professors will address the relations between pedophiles and their victims in a talk planned for the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

“Pedophile in Film: Freeway, Hard Candy, and The Woodsman” will run Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m.

Professors Pauline Greenhill (women and gender studies) and Steven Kohm (criminal justice) will discuss how the “Little Red Riding Hood story” offers filmmakers and viewers a metaphorical tool for understanding relations between pedophiles and their victims in novel ways, opening up the possibility of a shift in perspective on this issue.

This event is part of the Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination exhibition, on view at the WAG until September 2.

Admission to the talk is free.
