UPDATE: The noon hour concert has been cancelled due to rain.
It’s time to get a little folksie.
The Winnipeg Folk Festival will officially kick off today, marking the start to five days of lively entertainment at Birds Hill Park.
The official launch will take place at noon at The Cube stage in Old Market Square. Festival performers Good Old War will attend, along with special guests.
Tickets for the Folk Festival remain available and can be purchased at the gate. A handful of tickets are also still available for the festival campground.
The Folk Festival Express shuttle darts between the corner of Memorial and York every 30 minutes to and from the festival site for those who don’t want to worry about parking. If you do take your vehicle, a provincial park pass is required for entry this year. The cost is $30 at the gate (cash only).

Festivities run until July 8.
