Extended Sunday shopping hours will go into effect August 1 in Manitoba, giving consumers an extra three hours to shop on the last day of the week.
Stores will be allowed to open at 9 a.m. as opposed to noon and remain open until 6 p.m. Changes to the legislation also allow the hours to apply to Louis Riel Day, Victoria Day and Thanksgiving Day.
Municipalities will be able to pass their own by-laws if they wish to expand shopping hours in their communities.
Sunday, August 5 will be the first official day the new rules will be utilized.
