Take Pride Winnipeg! will launch Green Wave 2012 today, a summer-long effort to keep city neighbourhoods clean and beautiful.
Funded by both the City of Winnipeg and BFI Canada, Green Wave employs 16 youth aged 16 to 19 who assist local BIZ zones clean throughout the summer. Special event days are planned each summer for projects outside of BIZ zones, where Green Wavers may be involved in activities such as litter pickup, graffiti removal, planter maintenance and park restoration.
The launch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Bruce Park. Later this morning, Green Wave will paint two park buildings and help local children put their handprints on the wall.
