One person is dead and two others were injured after a two-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Portage la Prairie on Friday.
The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. when a 2005 Toyota Matrix was struck from behind by a 1999 Ford Ranger.
RCMP say a woman sitting in the backseat of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female youth driving the Ranger was treated for minor injuries.
The driver and front seat passenger of the Toyota, one male and one female, were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Both vehicles were travelling westbound at the time and RCMP had the roadway closed for several hours while they investigated.
No names have been released.
UPDATE: The woman has been identified as a 48-year-old from Winnipeg. The driver of the Ford pickup truck has been identified as a 17-year-old female from the RM of Portage la Prairie.
