The Winnipeg Airport Authority said James A. Richardson International Airport saw some unique passengers Tuesday – 850 hogs.

The swine, destined for breeding stock, are on their way to Chengdu, China. Manitoba company Genesus Genetics shipped the hogs.

“As a Manitoba-based company, we are very fortunate to have excellent facilities at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport,” said Genesus Genetics VP Mike Van Schepdael in a statemet. “Developing quality breeding stock is our passion; sharing our expertise around the world quickly and efficiently is made possible through cargo flights.”
