Mayor Sam Katz says the city should hire an independent consultant to continue the Corydon/Osborne area neighbourhood plan.
Last week, the city’s property and development committee halted work on a secondary plan for the neighbourhood after residents complained that businesses and developers would have too much say over the neighbourhood with the plan.
Katz said in a press release on Tuesday he will bring together stakeholders, including area Coun. Jenny Gerbasi, Coun. Jeff Browaty, community representative Carla Richmond, business owner Jerry Cianflone, residential developer Jeff Rabb, Winnipeg CAO Phil Sheegl and COO Deepak Joshi.
“We all appreciate the distinctive energy and atmosphere this neighbourhood provides,” said Katz. “In that sense, the Corydon area belongs to the residents, the businesses who have invested there, and to all of us who enjoy spending time there.”
