The City of Winnipeg is extending outdoor swimming pool hours as Winnipeg continues to endure high temperatures.
The Freight House, Provencher, St. Vital, Westdale and Transcona Centennial pools will now be open until 8 p.m. effective immediately. The Lions and Kildonan Park outdoor pools will stay open until 8 starting Thursday, July 12.
Spray pads continue to operate until 8 p.m. daily. Wading pools, however, remain at their normal schedules.
The City said they’re taking other measures, such as making sure air-conditioned Winnipeg Transit buses are running on the longest routes to keep as many people cool as possible, and the city will be placing a temporary water trailer near the Main Street Project and Salvation Army Booth Centre to ensure the city’s vulnerable have safe drinking water when other facilities are closed.
