Winnipeg police say charges are pending after a major crash sent two people to hospital.

Police said a 21-year-old man driving a white GMC Acadia smashed into the back of a green Honda Accord, which was waiting at a red light on Portage Avenue and Berry Street at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday. The car was flipped over on its side, while the truck ended up across the street.

The driver of the Accord, a 42-year-old man, is listed in hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the truck and an occupant suffered minor injuries.

Police said there will be charges in the crash, which saw Portage Avenue closed most of the day Sunday while police investigated.
