There have been several unconfirmed reports that Winnipeg Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec has been charged with a DUI in his native Czech Republic.

Media reports say the Jet smashed his BMW into the back of a car on May 26. His blood alcohol level has been reported as high as 0.2. No one was hurt.

Nothing has been confirmed.

Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff released a statement Monday after the story broke: “At this time True North Sports & Entertainment and the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club are aware of various, yet still inconsistent, internet reports pertaining to Ondrej Pavelec.

“We, as an organization, are attempting to gather more information and until such time as we are comfortable and have a full understanding of the situation, we will not be issuing any further comment.”

Pavelec recently signed a five-year, $19.5 million contract extension with the Jets.
