Company Fined $60K After Employee Loses Three Fingers

A Manitoba company has been fined $60,050 after an employee was injured on the job.

The Province says Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd pled guilty to charges after a 44-year-old worker lost three fingers on his left hand. The man’s fingers were severed when a punch press machine top plate activated, pressing down over his fingers.

The company “failed to ensure the punch press had safeguards installed to prevent workers from having contact with hazardous points of the machine,” said the province.
