A Winnipeg woman has been charged with animal cruelty after she allegedly killed a kitten with a baseball bat during a fight.
Winnipeg police said they went to a home on Pritchard Avenue on Tuesday at about 12:30 a.m. Police said two women, one armed with a baseball bat, went to a house where, thanks to an on-going dispute with the woman living there, swung her bat at the resident’s three-month-old male kitten. The pair then broke a window and ran away.
The kitten and his owner were taken to a vet. The kitten later had to be euthanized by the Winnipeg Humane Society as its injuries were too severe.
The woman wielding the bat, 23, was tracked down at 5:30 p.m. later that day and arrested. She faces charges of possession of a weapon and killing an animal. A warrant is out for the arrest of the second suspect.
