New Venue Secured For Fringe Shows Facing Cancellation

July 20, 2012 12:36 PM | Entertainment

Six Fringe companies facing cancellation have found a new home.

The acts, which were originally supposed to perform at Aqua Books will now be performed at The Conservatory, 201 Bannatyne Ave.

The City of Winnipeg shut Aqua Books down as a Fringe venue Thursday because they did not have their final occupancy permit. Aqua Books has recently moved to Princess Street after closing their Fort Street location.

“Since the news broke yesterday, we’ve received about 10 offers from different organizations, patrons and other performing companies offering up their space,” said Winnipeg Fringe Festival producer Chuck McEwen.

“We’d especially like to thank the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation for quickly arranging a replacement venue for us so close to Old Market Square.”
