An aerial photo of the living Canada Day flag commissioned by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ earlier this month will now be seen nationwide on a postage stamp.

On January 14, 2013, Canada Post will issue its Canadian Pride series of stamps. The photo chosen shows 3,000 Winnipeggers draped in red and white T-shirts to form the largest living flag in the country.

“With this stamp, our Living Flag photo will be seen by millions of people from all walks of life — putting our downtown on the map and showing to the world how much Winnipeggers care about their city,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the BIZ.

“Winnipeggers should be proud of this achievement and celebrate the positive growth and success our city and downtown is experiencing. This stamp is just one of the many indicators that our city is becoming more and more world-class.”
