A new public art exhibit made up of 20 giant marbles is being installed on a downtown Winnipeg sidewalk today.

“Marbles on Portage,” created by artist Erica Swendrowski, is a joint effort by the Winnipeg Arts Council Public Art Program and the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.

The three-foot and 4’6″ glass marbles will create an atmosphere of imaginative possibilities day and night all year-round, according to the Downtown BIZ.

They will be located on Portage Avenue between Carlton Street and Hargrave Street.

The official launch of the art piece will be Tuesday, July 31 at noon at Air Canada Park.
