The Winnipeg Jets have named Larry Simmons as the assistant general manager of the hockey club.
Simmons worked alongside GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and assistant GM Craig Heisinger during the 2011-12 season as assistant to the general manager.
Simmons held the position of vice-president/assistant general manager with the Atlanta Thrashers beginning in 2004, and continued in this capacity until the team’s relocation to Winnipeg in 2011.
Simmons and his wife, Cheryl, have one daughter Maci, and one son Rylan.
