A taste of Folklorama will be previewed at The Forks today, as the 2012 edition kicks off with a party on the Scotiabank Stage.
International and local performing groups will entertain during the family-friendly event beginning at 4 p.m. An ethnic market will promote wares from around the world, and a fireworks display will cap off the evening.
The Hi Life Steel Orchestra from the Caribbean Pavilion will hit the main stage at 6 p.m., followed by the Tasa Drummers of the Indo-Caribbean Paradise Pavilion at 6:45 p.m.
The Parade of Ambassadors will officially welcome the crowed at 7 p.m. Eight pavilions will then showcase their talents beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The fireworks are set for 10:45 p.m.
Folklorama begins Sunday and runs until August 18.
