Fido Scouring Country for Next TV Dog

August 8, 2012 9:19 AM | News

Wireless carrier Fido is looking for dog owners to audition their pooches to appear in an upcoming advertisement.

The Fido Casting Call 2 contest will search nationwide for the next dog to star in an ad. Dog owners across Canada are encouraged to get their pooches brushed up, competition-ready and captured on camera striking their favourite pose.

The casting call will support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, a non-profit organization that provides Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities.

The public can vote daily for their preferred pooch until September 10, 2012. For each vote, Fido will donate $1 to Dog Guides Canada, up to a maximum of $200,000. Dog Guides Canada will use the funds donated by Fido to train and place 10 Dog Guides with Canadians with disabilities.

Professional dog groomers will be making stops in select cities to pamper pets and have their photos taken, including August 19 in Winnipeg at Kilcona Park.

Submissions open August 13.
