Red Cross Campaign Gets Off the Ground

August 9, 2012 7:44 AM | News

A fundraising campaign in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ disaster preparedness and response activities will get a boost from local celebrities today.

Walmart is hosting a scavenger hunt from 10 a.m. to noon at 2370 McPhillips Street with local radio personalities and members of the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Winnipeg Police Service.

The campaign officially launched August 2 and will run through August 26. At Walmart checkouts, associates will give customers the opportunity to make a donation to support the work of the Canadian Red Cross in communities across the country.

The Red Cross in Manitoba has already provided registration for over 450 evacuees, 415 comfort kits to meet basic hygiene needs and 40 strollers this year.
