Entrepreneurs Go Head-to-Head in ‘Startup Weekend’

August 10, 2012 9:14 AM | News

A group of local entrepreneurs will attempt to build a business from scratch over the span of three days.

Startup Weekend Winnipeg is a 54-hour business building blitz being held in the city for the first time beginning today until Sunday.

“I wanted to bring something exciting and dynamic to the technology startup community in Winnipeg, and the global ‘Startup Weekend’ organization does just that,” said Brad Kendall, lead organizer and local entrepreneur. “Building a great business takes more than just an idea and hard work — you need a team, mentorship and feedback — which Startup Weekend is built to provide. The over $4,000 in online services each group receives doesn’t hurt either.”

Other local entrepreneurs will judge the competition, which is supported by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, The Eureka Project, New Media Manitoba, and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
