Adventure-seekers put themselves through dirty obstacles in a five-kilometre challenge on Saturday north of Winnipeg.

The Dirty Donkey Mud Run took athletes through a fierce competition at Spring Hill Winter Park and Oasis Resort. Almost 1,000 racers signed up for the first annual challenge, which included crawling through mud, under barbed wire, shimmying through tunnels, and climbing over and under obstacles in an attempt to cross the finish line wet and muddy.
Organizers partnered with the MS Society of Manitoba, giving participants the option to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis. The event raised $23,000.
