A group of young Winnipeg soccer players are vying for the chance to have their local field refurbished.
The Valley Gardens Rockets are a group of U9 girls currently in the running to be named BMO Team of the Week 2012 Champion. They sit in second place behind the Ottawa Royals Futuro U10 Boys.
BMO is running the Canada-wide contest to offer a top prize of $125,000 in soccer field refurbishment. Other prizes include a team trip to see a Toronto FC, Montreal Impact, Vancouver Whitecaps FC or Canadian National Team home game, plus $5,000 for a charity of their choice.
The Valley Gardens Rockets clean up local fields in an effort to keep the community clean, and also participated in the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy in Winnipeg.
Canadians have until August 27 to vote for their favourite team at BMOsoccer.com.
