Members of the Winnipeg Rowing Club came out on top this past weekend at the 109th NWIRA Championship Regatta in Kenora.

Ten clubs were in the running made up of mid-western Canadian and U.S. rowing teams. Forty-eight Winnipeg athletes competed over the two-day event, with a handful returning with gold medals.

Early this season, the Winnipeg Rowing Club set the group goal of winning the coveted Lipton Cup, presented annually to the club that wins the most aggregate points at NorthWest.

The team was led by WRC coaches Brent Figg and Ralph Penner. WRC member Allan Horne was also in Kenora, working as Head Official at the regatta.
