August 22, 2012 8:59 AM | Entertainment

To help break up the work day, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ will host a free noon-hour festival beginning today.

The BIZ’s Edmonton Street Festival will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today and August 29.

Today’s entertainment includes Zenobia and He Said She Said, while Au Set Bellydance Emporium and Suzanne Mariani will perform next Wednesday.

“This is a wonderful festival for our downtown and one that celebrates some of our most iconic thoroughfares, Portage Avenue and Edmonton Street,” said Stefano Grande, Downtown BIZ executive director. “It’s another great event that attracts people downtown for a unique experience. We’re hoping Winnipeggers will come out to explore the wonderful array of local shopping, dining and entertainment establishments.”

Edmonton Street will be closed between Portage and Graham Avenues to accomodate the festival.
