Alumni of Queenston School are being asked to open up their wallets to help contribute to a new gymnasium.

The Sheilah Sweatman Gymnasium will benefit students at the school and community at large. The fundraising efforts will enhance the project by 800 square-feet for a total of 4,800 square-feet.

The Winnipeg School Division will give the project the green light if the goal of $299,000 in funds is raised by August 31.

The gym is scheduled to be completed in early 2014. To date, the gym committee has raised over $220,000.

Contributions of $500 or more receive recognition on a donor wall placed in the Queenston School foyer adjacent to the gym. All contributions over $20 receive an official charitable tax receipt. Contributions can be made online or by cheque.
