A donation of 121 Inuit sculptures is on display at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in a new exhibition.

The collection, donated by Winnipeg collectors Bob and Marlene Stafford, opened on Saturday and will run until January 2013.

“Once he began collecting, Bob Stafford admits he got ‘carried away’ but the result is a very impressive collection,” said Darlene Coward Wight, curator of Inuit art. “It includes works by such established artists such as Osuitok Ipeelee, Davidee Atchealak, Kiugak Ashoona, Luke Anowtalik, Nuna Parr, and Abraham Anghik Ruben, as well as by younger artists who are becoming known for their original subjects and expressive means.”

The works include pieces from the 1980s to 2000s and is on display in the The Stafford Collection of Inuit Sculpture.
