This year’s lineup for FemFest 2012: Staging Identity has been released, which will celebrate 10 years of female playwrights and artistry in Manitoba.
Highlights from the cabarets include Winnipeg punk-rock band Mad Young Darlings, contemporary dance troupes Gearshifting Performance Work and Young Lungs, belly dancing by Prairie Caravan Tribal Bellydance, and a clown performance by Lynn Langdon.
“We always try to do something for everybody,” said artistic director Hope McIntyre. “Our cabarets continue year after year to showcase some of the best in diverse Winnipeg talent.”
FemFest runs from September 15-22 at the University of Winnipeg’s Asper Centre for Theatre and Film, 400 Colony Street. Tickets are $10 for single shows with the full festival being available for a $50 festival pass.
Opening night will be hosted by local news anchor Susan Tymofichuk, while Hot 103’s Chrissy Troy will handle closing night hosting duties.
