A festival meant to highlight the practicality and usage of electric vehicles in Manitoba will showcase a number of new models to the market.

MEVAFest is being held by the Manitoba Electric Vehicle Association and will highlight a variety of energy efficient electric vehicles at Assiniboine Park on Saturday, September 15.

Nissan, Mitsubishi and GM plan to show off their latest electric creations, while MEVA members display their converted models, such as a Miata, RAV4, 1954 Austin and BMW.

Visitors to the park will also have the opportunity to be shuttled around in the EVs.

The festival runs from 2-5 p.m. near the Lyric Theatre.
