The Winnipeg Goldeyes are in the 2012 American Association playoffs.

The Fish beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Saturday night at Shaw Park 5-1. It was redemption for a loss Winnipeg suffered Friday at the hands of Sioux City 5-2.

“I had our best guy (Matt Rusch) pitching tonight and he sure stepped up,” said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. “He did what he did in St. Paul when we were in a desperate situation. He was awesome.”

Winnipeg’s wild card spot will see them open in Fargo on Wednesday night.

“I’m glad the fans stuck with us and supported us and were able to watch a good baseball game tonight,” Forney added. “I know they’ll get to see some more good baseball in the playoffs.

The Goldeyes and RedHawks will play Game 2 of the three-game series on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
