A new art exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery will feature 13 artists with a local connection.
Winnipeg Now opens Saturday, September 29 and includes works from artists who either live or have lived in Winnipeg.
“This show is a measure of what art-making looks like in this city in 2012,” said guest curators Meeka Walsh and Robert Enright. “Whether the artists are living here or away, a spirit of risk-taking and invention permeates their work. The younger generation of artists has adopted a hybridized approach to art-making that resists categorical boundaries and combines a number of art practices. Audiences will be surprised and challenged by what they will see in this exhibition.”
The exhibit will open at 7 p.m. at the WAG’s Nuit Blanche, part of the national Culture Days event.
