A 39-year-old Shamattawa woman who was taken into police custody in Thompson on September 3 has died.
RCMP say the woman became ill and was transported to the local hospital, and later to Winnipeg.
While in hospital, the woman died on September 7. Results of an autopsy are pending to determine the cause of death.
Due to RCMP policy, an outside police agency will oversee the investigation. The Saskatoon Police Service will assign an investigator to look into the death.
