Communities by recent federal funding cuts will vent their frustration during a protest at Memorial Park today.
Community members, labour organizations, public service workers and families will gather at national day of action events across the country to protest federal service cuts, including one in downtown Winnipeg from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“Public service workers are our families, friends, neighbours and customers,” said Marianne Hladun, regional executive vice-president for the Public Service Alliance of Canada, Prairie Region. “These job cuts are bad for our communities, our country and our economy. Workers and their families are forced to cut spending, small businesses lose customers and local economies suffer.”
