Winnipeg Humane Society Throwing Tailgate Party

September 18, 2012 8:00 AM | Entertainment

An end-of-summer Tailgate Party on Thursday at the Winnipeg Humane Society will try to find more loving homes for its many adoptable pets.

From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the public can visit 45 Hurst Way and adopt a dog for $99 or a cat for $9.99.

The outdoor parking lot party will include live music, food, activities for kids, and performances by athletic dog group InnerDrive K-9 Sports Team and the students from the Hutton Academy of Irish Dance.

“We’re throwing this family-friendly party so we can really showcase the importance and rewards of adopting a pet in a really fun way,” said WHS CEO Bill McDonald. “By offering this reduced adoption rate, we hope to free up some space for the animals who are constantly coming in to our shelter.”
